A Commemorative Music Tour of London, The Western Front and Paris.

Our commemorative 17-day music tour of London, Belgium and France gives students invaluable performance experience in a variety of venues that include cathedrals, abbeys, churches, public memorials, markets, and villages while also getting the chance to visit iconic concert venues in London and in Paris.

Students will learn about Australia’s significant contribution to the First World War and explore cemeteries, museums, memorials and interactive displays specifically dedicated to the men and women who lost their lives. However, there is also ample opportunity to take in the fascinating sights and wonders of these beautiful countries including the Tower of London, Eiffel Tower, and Arc de Triomphe to name just a few.

Itinerary

Day 1-2

Flight and Welcome London. 

Check in, orientation and dinner with fellow travellers.

Day 3

Explore London’s historical sites including the Tower of London and Imperial War Museum.

 

Enjoy a West End Show in the evening.

Day 4

Perform in one of London’s impressive venues; Southwark Cathedral or Australia House.

Day 5

Day Trip to Bath.

Passing Stonehenge en-route to Bath, the UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its Roman Baths and 18th century Georgian architecture. Perform in the spectacular Bath Abbey.

Day 6

Explore London, including a guided tour of Royal Albert Hall.

Day 7

London to Ypres, Belgium.

Say farewell to London and transfer by private coach, through the Eurotunnel to the charming city of Ypres, Belgium.

Day 8

Half day trip to the surrounding Battlefields including visits to the Passchendaele 1917 World War 1 Museum, Pheasant Wood Cemetery and Cobbers Memorial and Museum.

Perform in the Jean Baptiste Church.

Day 9

Explore Ypres including a visit to the interactive In Flanders Fields Museum, time at leisure to explore the Ramparts and to visit one of the Belgian chocolate shops in the Main Square.

Participate in The Last Post Ceremony under the imposing arches of the Menin Gate.

Day 10

Ypres to Paris. 

Say farewell to Ypres and transfer by private coach to Paris with a stop at the largest cemetery in the City of Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery.

An evening visit to Montmartre to take in the beautiful views over Paris.

Day 11

Explore Paris. Visit the Opera Garnier and time for some shopping on the Grand Boulevards.

Concert in La Madeleine Church, followed by a performance as part of the ‘La Flamme’ ceremony under the Arc de Triomphe.

Day 12

Enjoy a full day visit to the spectacular Château de Versailles.

In the evening visit the Eiffel Tower to travel to the top for the breathtaking views over Paris.

Day 13

Day trip to Disneyland Paris.

Day 14

Paris to Albert, Northern France.

Say farewell to Paris and transfer by private coach to the town of Albert in the Somme.

Perform in the Covered Market in Villers-Bretonneux.

Day 15

Explore the battlefields of the Somme region.

Perform in the small village of Pozières.

Day 16-17

Farewell Europe. 

Flight back home from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Australia.
